Two weeks in - Vote on new colors! New games and emulator!
over 4 years ago – Sat, Oct 23, 2021 at 08:54:35 AM

Two weeks in, and Thumby keeps on rolling and we continue to be blown away by the response - over 3200 backers and 140K raised, thanks so much!

New Colors + Clear!

Our plastic supplier, David Wolfe Design, dropped us off some new sample cases of the gold special edition case and the clear plastic case option, and they look amazing!   The gold case is only available at the Special Edition Level (which also gets your name in the credits, along with a collectible case), and the clear is now an option at the $24 level and up.

Vote for color options

You crushed our stretch goals of 25K, 50K and 100K, unlocking two new color case options.  We want to pick the best colors and want to get your vote in on what these new colors will be.  We have a selection of seven new possible color choices, and the top two colors as voted on by you will be the ones we make available to choose from at the end of the campaign.

To vote, we have a simple Google Form below - if you don't have (or want) to use the Google Form, you can enter your vote in the comments section of this update.  Voting is open to all backers.

Here is a link to a Google form to vote for your favorite color option: VOTE ON THE NEW THUMBY COLORS

Note:  This is not where you choose the actual color option for your reward, we will poll you separately at the end of the campaign.

We will close voting in one week (Oct 20th) and announce the new color options then.

Game Development & Emulator Beta

Games, games, games!  More games are being developed for Thumby as we speak, and we have a few early Thumbys in the hands of developers now.

Join Alex Glow from Hackster.io as she unboxes a Thumby beta unit and tries out the web IDE to create a very simple program for the Thumby.

TinyRogue

A Nerd of Gamers (twitter) is creating TinyRogue for Thumby, and has an early preview working in Pico8 here.

Neo Retro Games

Neo Retro Games (twitter, website) are creating several games for Thumby, including Yatzy and Video Poker.

Thumby Emulator Beta

We've been working on it for a while and excited to roll out an early version of the Thumby emulator which is part of the Thumby Web IDE.  Try it out now and start working on your own games.

Note: This is a beta version and subject to change, if you have any issues, please email us [email protected] or post on the Thumby forum: http://forum.tinycircuits.com/

Stretch Goals 1 & 2 reached! In less than 32 hours!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 30, 2021 at 01:31:58 AM

Thanks again for backing Thumby!  We continue to be blown away by the response we're seeing and for the support you're giving us!  We're at over 350% our goal in less than 32 hours!

Stretch Goals - New plastic color options unlocked

We set a stretch goal at 25K and 50K to unlock new color options and have blown passed them!   So for these new color cases, we'll be asking everyone who has backed so far for their input on this.  We plan on sending out a poll in some form next week, where you be able to choose from a list of possible color choices, and we'll then lock these in as the new color options.

Note: After the campaign is over, we'll provide a way for you to select your Thumby color option if your reward level includes a color option

Which colors will win out?

We're also closing in on the next stretch goal of $100,000, which will unlock a clear plastic Thumby option.

And after that... well let's just say we have a few interesting (and tiny) ideas in the works...

Add-Ons

We've seen the comments and gotten the messages - people want the ability to add-on different items to their reward - and as of last night we've enabled this via Kickstarter.  So if you want to add multiple Thumbys or different reward levels, you can now do this.  In Kickstarter on the Thumby project page, click on the button that says "Manage your pledge".  This will take you to your pledge page, where you can adjust your pledge and select "Add-Ons" to your reward, letting you add additional items to your pledge easily.

Play with a Thumby in person this weekend!

TinyCircuits will be at GDEX part of the Origins Game Fair this weekend (Oct 1 - 3rd) in Columbus, Ohio - try out a Thumby in-person, see some other TinyCircuits products, and talk with the TinyCircuits team behind Thumby.  Hope to see you there!
